Established in 1999, Al Maha was the fruition of ideas from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, a firm supporter of conservation reserve and a fierce protector of desert traditions. The desert resort is located within the 225 sq km Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR) that is managed by the Dubai Conservation Board, under the Chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Ideally located in the DDCR region, Al Maha offers unobstructed views of the golden dunes of the royal Arabian dessert, allowing guests to delve into the culture of the desert environment, rich with Arabian wildlife and frequent sightings of over 130+ recognized species of birds, Arabian Oryx and Gazelles that roam freely around the resort.
